AQ 200 series base technology is now patented

Arcteq has obtained patent for its AQ 200 series unique measurement technology. The AQ 200 series is the only protection and control platform in world market capable of billing level measurement accuracy and being totally immune to frequency variations. This unique measurement technology is now patented under publication number FI20135835.

Patent pending for intermittent earth-fault protection algorithm

AQ 200 series intermittent earth-fault protection is now patented. This sample based intermittent earth-fault algorithm makes use of AQ 200 series’ accurate measurement and sampling technology by searching the transient spikes in both I0 and U0 generated by intermittent earth fault strike through. Algorithm is able to remove all unnecessary and confusing data and concentrate only on the spikes. By calculating the delta of raw samples using an innovative admittance based formula the polarity of the spikes in I0 and U0 is determined accurately distinguishing effectively a faulty feeder over healthy background feeder. Mr. Antti Koksalo joins Arcteq

We are pleased to announce Mr. Antti Koksalo joining the Arcteq team. As a Technical Product Manager Antti will be responsible for our arc protection system technologies. 

Prior to joining Arcteq Antti has worked in similar roles in Vamp Ltd and Wärtsilä Ltd.

World's largest steel maker applies Arcteq IEDs

POSCO Cokes plant switchgear with Arcteq IEDs

South-Korean steel producer, POSCO has applied Arcteq's AQ 200 series IEDs for dust collector process in its Cokes plant, Pohan Works, South-Korea. Arcteq delivery comprises of AQ M215 motor protection, AQ F215 and AQ F210 feeder protection IEDs. The Arcteq IEDs were commissioned succesfully by Arcteq Korea's engineers during October and November 2014.

Stockholm Port

Arcteq AQ 200 series IEDs and AQ 100 series arc protection systems are applied in Stockholm's main Port, Värtahamnen. Arcteq supplied AQ F205 feeder protection units and selective arc protection systems for the 11kV on-shore substation. Arcteq IEDs are communicating to supervisory system through Modbus TCP protocol.   

Arcteq IEDs to Ma'aden Saudi Arabia

Arcteq has delivered AQ G357 generator protection IEDs and AQ F215 feeder protection IEDs to Ma'aden's bauxite mine and ore crushing and handling site located at Al Ba'itha, Saudi-Arabia. Arcteq IEDs are used to protect and control facilty's 15MVA, 4,16kV power plant. The IEDs are scheduled to be commissioned at May 2015.

Arc protection delivery to HHI for Shuqaiq power plant in Saudi Arabia

Arcteq is currently delivering AQ 100 arc protection systems with aproximately 1400 monitored locations for MV switchgear to HHI (Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd) for for Shuqaiq power plant Units #1-4 in Saudi-Arabia. The 2,650 MW power plant will be located on the Kingdom’s western Red Sea coast and is planned to be in commercial operation at 2017.

AQ 200 Protection IEDs to Saudi Ministry of Defense

Arcteq has delivered AQ 200 series protection IEDs to Saudi Ministry of Defense for a 13.8kV switchgear refurbishment job. The Military City jobsite is located in Riyadh. Arcteq AQ F215 feeder protection IEDs are installed on incoming and bus tie breakers and AQ F201 relays on outgoing feeders. Switchgear transfer logic is implemented between the three AQ F215 IEDs for auto transfer and retransfer operations.

VSV selects Arcteq

Vakka-Suomen Voima (VSV) distribution utility in South-West of Finland is applying Arcteq’s AQ F215 feeder protection IEDs and AQ 100 series arc protection devices in their distribution network. The first switching station in Torlahti was commissioned in early 2014 followed by Ihode substation commissioned in August 2014. Both stations communicate with ABB RTU 560 using IEC 61850. Ihode 110/20kV substation was energized after completion of successful primary earth-fault tests. The AQ F215 feeder protection IEDs operated flawlessly also under challenging intermittent earth-fault field tests.      

Currently Arcteq is delivering protection IEDs and arc protection systems to VSV 110/20kV Lappi substation due to be in use at May 2015.

Torkkola wind power substation energized

Arcteq's AQ 300 and AQ 200 series IEDs and AQ 100 series arc protection systems are protecting the Finnish wind power collector substation in Torkkola at west coast of Finland. This 20kV substation operated by EPV Tuulivoima Oy is now energized and the first 3.3MW wind turbines are connected to the grid. The AQ F215 feeder protection IEDs, AQ V211 voltage protection IEDs and AQ T392 transformer protection IEDs are connected to Siemens PAS substation controller using IEC 61850 communication standard.

Elenia station energized

Arcteq's AQ F215 feeder protection IEDs at Elenia's 20kV switching station in Visuvesi located at central Finland are now commissioned and station is energized. Arcteq IEDs communicate with Netcon 500 station controller using IEC 61850 communication standard. Elenia is one of the largest distribution utilities in Finland with 412 000 customers.
